Russian ex-fin min says 2016 budget deficit may reach 5.5% of GDP
MOSCOW, Mar 17 (PRIME) -- Russia’s federal budget deficit may reach 5.5% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016, former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said at a congress Thursday.
“The real situation is much worse. Without additional indexation the budget deficit will be over 5%, maybe almost 5.5% of GDP this year,” he said.
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in February that the country’s federal budget deficit will amount to up to 4% of GDP in 2016 if the average oil price stands at U.S. $30 per barrel. The current budget implies a deficit of 3% of GDP this year.
